Capitol City Marching Band Championships is the NSBA AA/Competition Site Sanctioned event for this date in 2017. It utilizes a prelims/finals format, ensuring all bands will have the opportunity to perform their show twice for a panel of state marching band contest caliber adjudicators from throughout the Midwest. There is no parade with this event. NSBA ballots and rules are used. Directors receive live verbal critique sessions with these adjudicators between performances to provide them an excellent opportunity to enhance and improve the educational experience.

Seacrest Field provides bands an ideal setting to share their efforts with judges and audiences. The lack of a track surrounding the field provides a more intimate setting. A high press box provides the very best perspective to evaluate band performances. Ample parking and seating as well as an outstanding public address system give audiences one of the best venues the state has to offer. The Lincoln Southeast High School Band Boosters have been hosting a site of the state marching contest for the past fourte enyears as well as five years of the Capitol City Marching Band Championships.
